New IE Vulnerability

17 December 2004

A new and very dodgy vulnerability has been found in IE that allows fraudsters to create web pages that pose as other sites; and it is increadibly simple to set up. A few weeks ago an ex-colleague asked some advice after receiving an email with a link to a spoofed version of the e-commerce section of their site, so as you can see this is could be pretty nasty. You can find out more information at Secunia.com.

Basically, be very careful using e-commerce links from emails and untrusted websites. Or else use FireFox.

BUDS Photos

30 November 2004

A few weeks back I was in Edinburgh taking some photos for the British University Dry Slope Champs. Since leaving university I’ve kept in contact with a lot of my ski club buddies and this year Salford University are running BUSC, so I’m acting as the semi-official photographer. I will upload some of the best photos when I get time, but until then you can check them out here.

US Election

1 November 2004

So it’s the big Election Day tomorrow! Several people I have talked to recently have expressed the opinion that neither candidate is any better than the other, it appears that this view is also being reflected in quite a few newspapers across the world. However, the Independent ran a story today that summarises where the candidates stand on various issues, I think this shows that however similar Bush and Kerry may or may not be, what differences there are will make a profound impact on the US’s own soil and abroad.
