So glad!

McCain

8 May 2007

Last week US Presidential candidate John McCain appeared at Google. It was quite an interesting talk and being a bleeding-heart-European-liberal I was actually pleasantly surprised by some of his answers. What didn’t sit quite right with me was the religious rhetoric and his seemingly black-and-white distinction of good vs. evil. The race is already getting interesting, shame I don’t get a vote. Anyway, checkout the video on YouTube, I was sitting just behind the left mic.

If you have a spare 80 minutes, this documentary about 9/11 is pretty interesting. I wonder if these questions will ever be answered.

US Election, part 2

Damn it!!

US Election

1 November 2004

So it’s the big Election Day tomorrow! Several people I have talked to recently have expressed the opinion that neither candidate is any better than the other, it appears that this view is also being reflected in quite a few newspapers across the world. However, the Independent ran a story today that summarises where the candidates stand on various issues, I think this shows that however similar Bush and Kerry may or may not be, what differences there are will make a profound impact on the US’s own soil and abroad.

What’s your ecological footprint?

1 October 2004

Take the ecological footprint quiz and see how sustainable your current lifestyle is. I am embarassed to say that my footprint is currently 6, this is bumped-up by my international travel and regular consumption of meat, eggs and dairy. At the end of the quiz there are a number of links to information on how you can take action. Sustainability — in all it’s forms — is a serious issue at the moment, and in Honduras over the summer it was a hot topic for discussion. It’s definitely worth seeing how a little extra effort can make a considerable difference. I’m sold!

(anyone notice the irony of posting this with a picture of “big boy” on the same page?)
