Bring Your Own Big Wheel

13 April 2009

This weekend was the 9th annual Bring Your Own Big Wheel event on Vermont Street here in San Francisco.  I’ve never been before, but by all accounts this year was much bigger than the previous years.

I felt a little jealous just watching from the sidelines, but at least I managed to get a few photos.  Maybe next year :)

Photographic Critique

11 March 2009

I’ve been reading a lot about photography recently, both books and blogs.  One of the blogs I’m really into is by Atlanta based photographer Zack Arias.  He has started posting video critiques of aspiring photographers’ portfolio sites.  Its really interesting to watch and hear what a professional looks for and the details they notice.

Fire Extinguisher Training

23 February 2009

I’m on the Emergency Response Team at work, here’s a minute and half of video I shot at the fire extinguisher training.

Wild Flower Triathlon

20 February 2009

I just registered for my first triathlon!  I’m entering the mountain bike course of the Wild Flower Triathlon. It’s a sprint, so is only a 0.25 mile swim, 9 mile mountain bike and 2 mile run, but it’s my first race so I’m already pretty nervous.  I can do each of the pieces on their own, but one after the other may be tricky.  To make things yet more interesting, my knees are in pretty bad shape at the moment.

Nasal Cleansing

21 January 2009

Tessa has to clean out her nasal cavity every night by spraying a salt solution through each nostril.  It’s a pretty funny sight.

FreeCreditReport my a$$

8 November 2008

A while ago I signed up for the free credit monitoring service provided by freecreditreport.com. Apparently there is a 7-day free trail of a monitoring service that they sign you up to automatically, the details hidden somewhere in the small print. I haven’t been using one of my credit cards much recently, so the $14.95 charge from "CIC * TripleAdvantage" stood out. I googled for it and found a bunch of people with the same problem.

This site has some good information on how to go about cancelling. I didn’t have too many problems, but they did try pretty hard to keep me on, and when that didn’t work they offered me a free a month in the hope I’d forget to cancel again.

If you ever used this site, I’d recommend checking you’re not still paying for it unbeknownst to you.
