I was contracted to run the prototype phase of an R&D project with the aim
of assessing the feasibility of a business plan. NDAs prevent discussion of
detail but we developed the prototypes in Microsoft .NET 2.0, SQL Server 2000
and experimented with cutting edge Artificial Intelligence techniques.
Working from the business plan, I was responsible for the system design,
requirements analysis, research, development, and I was involved closely with
potentially investor groups.
Operation Wallacea, Honduras
Computer Systems Manager, 23 June 2004 – 4 September 2004
Ten weeks voluntary service in Honduras as the Computer Systems Manager for
Operation Wallacea, a conservation organisation carrying out bio-diversity and
social projects in the rain forest. My role was to specify and install
computer networks in both the forest and marine sites, and remain responsible
for ensuring smooth running of the facilities in extremely unforgiving
conditions. Half-way through the research season I was given the additional
responsibility as Co-Manager for Base Camp.

Following the acquisition of Act's product division, I was transferred to
Vantage as the lead developer of an online CPD product which I developed at
Act. The system has received rave reviews and is used by companies such as
Norwich Union Life, the Institute of Clinical Research, Lloyds Pharmacy, and
several councils.
