Freelance Web Designer

Towards the end of 1999 I stopped working with Technimode and started taking on full projects of my own. I have designed several sites from scratch (check out my Portfolio) and have taken on a job maintaining Destination Sheffield's site.
Breaking away from Technimode has given me a lot of experience dealing with customers who have a tendency not to know what they want. I also have experience now dealing with projects from beginning to end, where as before my role was only to do bits-and-bobs.

Summer 1999

Conference Organiser Assistant, Destination Sheffield Ltd

My main role was during the "Youth Offending Conference". I was required to look after the speakers. Prior to the event making sure they knew when and where to be and what equipment they could use for their presentation. On the day I had to make sure that everything was precisely as they wanted and to liaise between them and the technicians.
Other work involved database upkeep and general office assistance.

1996 to 1999

Web designer at Technimode

At Technimode Ltd. I have worked on a variety of projects such as intranet pages for AMEC and CGI-scripting for Charterfields.com. The nature of this work forced me to make sure that all projects were finished on time and with the utmost quality.

In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional (including FrontPage); as well as rudimentary macro design
Knowledge of Visual Basic, C, Java, JavaScript, VB script, ASP, SQL, Embedded SQL, Prolog, LISP, PERL, SML, the formal specification language Z and UML
Web design and programming
Experience with Corel PhotoPaint, Adobe PhotoShop, Fireworks and other design software

Grade 6 Clarinet, grade 5 Saxophone and grade 5 music theory
First Aid training

Climbing. Up until very recently I have been an avid climber, attending some indoor competitions when younger.

Cycling. I enjoy cycling as a means of transport and exercise.

Ninjutsu. I am currently studying Ninjutsu with the "Bujinkan Tendo Shingan Dojo" in Manchester. It is very good for general fitness and, as with many Martial Arts, the discipline of it can be related to and used in real life. I am currently 7th Kyu.

Films. I love watching films; whether they be the latest blockbuster, an old Vietnam war film or an obscure French film noir.
